House on Lake Ammer

New building of a residential house

The property is located in a nature reserve overlooking the Lake Ammer. The existing building will be deconstructed and reduced to the originally freestanding barn and supplemented by two solitary buildings.

The ensemble of three buildings which stand perpendicular to each other, partitions the exterior spaces. The original foundations used as terraces enable a terraced terrain and are utilized as meeting areas between the volumes. All buildings are designed with abstract elements of the typical local boat houses with gabled roof and wooden facade.

The residential house is a hinge between lake and dense forest. The gable roof reacts with an uneven structure of the gables on this situation. The interior is designed as a flowing space continuum. Suspended 'sleeping/ living boxes' accommodate the private areas. Various ceiling heights are defined within the spatial continuum for the different uses.
